Bikur Cholim Rooms
Support, Comfort, and Care for All
Hospital stays are overwhelming—long hours of stress and waiting for answers. The Yad Ephraim Room at Maimonides Hospital offers kosher meals, refreshments, and a welcoming space for families from across the community, including those at Bay Ridge Emergency Department, Community Hospital, and Mount Sinai. It’s a quiet source of dignity and relief during some of life’s hardest moments.
A Warm Place to Eat & Connect
Open 24 hours, the Yad Ephraim Room gives patients, families, and visitors a place to pause, share a meal, and feel a sense of normalcy. Hundreds pass through each week, always finding fresh sandwiches, snacks, and beverages ready for them.
Meals
Nourishing Patients & Families
Families at the bedside rarely have time to find a meal. Yad Ephraim’s Food Program brings fresh kosher meals, snacks, and refreshments directly to hospitals across Brooklyn and beyond—offering not just nourishment, but reassurance that a caring community stands with them.
Each day, Yad Ephraim delivers fresh kosher meals bedside to patients throughout the hospital—a small act that brings real comfort and reminds patients they’re being looked after.
Shabbos Programs
Hospital stays don’t pause for Shabbos. Yad Ephraim delivers fresh Shabbos meals, refreshments, and Shabbos magazines, along with goodie bags, so patients and families can experience Shabbos with dignity and without logistical worry. Minyanim every Friday night, Shabbos morning and afternoon, and Motzai Shabbos give patients and families a place to daven together, with the Shabbos morning davening preceding a well-known Kiddush with all types of Shabbos food you can think of, a special dairy buffet, and great company. Some new fathers even name their babies in the shul. Yad Ephraim helps make Shabbos feel as warm, welcoming, and complete as possible, even during a hospital stay.
Hospital Visits by Our Dedicated Volunteers
Daily Comfort and Companionship for Patients
Every single day, our volunteers go to each room in the hospitals, visiting patients and offering conversation, making sure they have warm meals, or simply keeping them company at the bedside. For many, these small moments become the brightest part of a long, uncertain day.
Guest Accommodations
Comfortable Shabbos Hospital Lodging
Building for the Future
Yad Ephraim is working to provide clean, comfortable guest rooms and apartments near the hospital, so families can stay close to their loved ones over Shabbos and Yom Tov without worrying about lodging—a place to rest and regroup between long days at the bedside.
As community needs grow, Yad Ephraim is currently building a new hotel-style hospitality center offering modern accommodations so families can stay close to their loved ones in comfort and dignity. With your support, we will bring this new facility to life and provide a place of comfort and peace of mind for families when they need it most.
