About Yad Ephraim
Yad Ephraim exists to make sure that no family in our community ever has to face a hospital stay alone. What began as a grassroots effort to bring warm meals to patients at Maimonides Medical Center has grown into a full network of care—spanning meals, visits, lodging, medical support, and emotional comfort—for families across Brooklyn and beyond.
Our mission is simple: to meet families exactly where they are, in their hardest moments, with dignity, warmth, and unwavering support. Every program we run, from our 24-hour emergency hotline to our Yom Tov visits, is built around one belief—that chesed shown at a hospital bedside can change the entire course of someone’s day, and sometimes, their entire outlook on a difficult journey.
Our Story
Established with Heart
It often begins with a phone call no family is prepared for—an emergency, a rushed trip to the hospital, and everything changing in an instant.
Long hours follow, days that blur together at a hospital bedside, where even basic needs are pushed aside in the weight of worry and exhaustion.
In those moments, Yad Ephraim quietly steps in across Maimonides Medical Center, Bay Ridge Emergency Department, Community Hospital, and Mount Sinai—bringing meals, support, and timely help when families are overwhelmed and have nowhere else to turn.
For families, it is often the smallest acts that carry them through: a warm meal, a quiet check-in, a need taken care of without being asked.
What remains is the comfort of knowing they were not alone in those hardest hours.
